CEO & FOUNDER
Tasha Jamison, MHA, is a seasoned healthcare administrator and passionate advocate for black maternal health. As the CEO and Founder of Operation Safe Birth, Tasha leverages her 10+ years of experience in care coordination, clinical research, and health informatics to drive positive change. With a deep commitment to serving underrepresented and underprivileged populations, Tasha works tirelessly to address the systemic disparities that contribute to poor maternal health outcomes in the black community. Her personal experience as a black mother informs her work, fueling her determination to create a more equitable and just healthcare system for all.
ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR & VICE CHAIR
Brittney Davis, RN, BSN is a Registered Nurse with over a decade of experience and a passionate advocate for maternal health. As both a healthcare professional and a new mother, she brings a deeply personal perspective to her work. Inspired by her own birthing journey and the urgent need to address disparities in Black maternal health, she is committed to empowering and protecting women throughout every stage of pregnancy. In her role as Associate Director and Vice Chair of Operation Safe Birth, Brittney leads initiatives that promote education, awareness, and community-centered support for expectant mothers. She is dedicated to strengthening community connections, empowering expectant mothers with knowledge, and advancing the mission of Operation Safe Birth to ensure safer outcomes for families.
CHIEF OPERATIONS OFFICER
Stephanie Bubak, M.Psy., is the Chief Operating Officer at Operation Safe Birth, where she leverages her extensive experience in healthcare to drive the organization's mission to mitigate health disparities and reduce maternal mortality rates among Black women in the US. With over 15 years of experience in the healthcare industry, spanning mental health, clinical research trials management, and working with complex pregnancies across diverse populations, Stephanie brings a unique perspective to her role. Her personal experience navigating rare illnesses has further informed her passion for advocating for those in need. As COO, Stephanie is dedicated to utilizing all available resources, expertise, and strategic thinking to ensure the organization's success in improving maternity and fertility experiences for the Black community.
ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR
Dakita Thornton, RN, BSN is a registered nurse with over seven years of experience serving underserved and underutilized communities in New York City. Since beginning her career nursing in 2018, she has developed a deep passion for advocating on behalf of vulnerable populations who are too often overlooked within the healthcare system. In her work with Operation Safe Birth,Dakita is committed to advancing equitable care and ensuring that all birthing persons receive quality, respectful treatment regardless of race or background. She believes that through innovation, policy change, and advocacy, we can reduce healthcare disparities and improve maternal outcomes while addressing the systemic issues that contribute to inequities and rising mortality rates.
COMMUNITY DIRECTOR
Yianna Justo is a results-driven leader with extensive experience in government, community, and strategic relations. She currently serves as Director of Community Affairs at Montefiore Health System, where she supports the development of high-impact initiatives, strengthens partnerships, and produces widely recognized annual reports highlighting community engagement. Previously, she served as Chief of Staff in the NYS Assembly, streamlining communications, overseeing operations, and driving policy and outreach strategies. With strong expertise in branding, communications, & relationship building, she is passionate about creating meaningful connections and advancing initiatives that uplift communities. She holds a B.A. in Political Science from Lehman College and is pursuing an MBA in Marketing at SUNY Empire State College. Recognized as a “40 Under 40 Rising Star” by the Westchester Business Council, Yianna continues to blend artistry, strategy, & leadership to deliver lasting impact.
OPERATIONS MANAGER
As a mother living with PCOS, Kamiko Wade understands the challenges of navigating hormonal health issues and unexplained weight changes. Her personal experiences have driven her passion to advocate for change, ensuring that no woman faces maternal health challenges alone.
As Operations Manager at Operation Safe Birth, Kamiko is dedicated to amplifying the voices of women and pushing for research, education, and resources that improve maternal health outcomes. By sharing her journey and standing alongside others, she aims to break stigmas, build community, and advocate for equitable access to quality care and respect for all mothers and women.
INTERN - SOCIAL MEDIA & ADMIN
Myla-Hayden is a driven high school junior and AP Scholar with Distinction. She has demonstrated leadership skills as a member of her school's sophomore committee, where she coordinated events, planned newspaper content, and created social media posts. With a passion for social media, Myla-Hayden has built her own online presence and is excited to leverage her skills as a social media manager for a nonprofit organization focused on improving Black maternal health.
